Craig says: He's like almost ancient.
Dylan says: Weird huh?
I say: He is an antique!

"An item which is at least 50 to 100 years old and is collected or desirable due to rarity, condition, utility, or some other unique feature."
-----------------------------
We've had some really great and admirable (and not so great) people born on August 25th throughout history... here are a few that stuck out to me :)
1530: Ivan IV the Terrible
--Known for being "strong minded, devout, and impulsive; given to rages, and according to the suspicions of some, probably had episodic outbreaks of mental disorder."
1930: Sean Connery
--Good God, is that man really that old? He is most known for his role in James Bond and his more recent roles in movies such as Finding Forrester, The Rock, First Knight, The Hunt for Red October.
1949: Gene Simmons
--This is the creepy tongue guy from KISS. His persona in the hard rock band was the blood-spitting, fire-breathing, tongue-wagging "Demon"
1949: Anson Williams
--He is famous for his role as the gullible but well-intentioned singer from Happy Days, Potsie!
1954: Elvis Costello
--"Steeped in wordplay, the vocabulary of Costello's lyrics is broader than that of most popular songs, and his music has drawn on dozens of genres."
1958: Tim Burton
--Quirky and kinda creepy director, screenwriter and set designer. Best known for Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Planet of the Apes and Big Fish.
1970: Claudia Schiffer
--German supermodel (and actress I guess?) She's done Versace, Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Valentino. Was the first model to make the covers of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, the New York Times and People.
Cool things that happened in 1958:
-- Denatonium, the bitterest substance known is discovered. It is used as an aversive agent in products such as bleach to reduce the risk of children drinking them.
-- The Jim Henson Company is founded.
-- Instant noodles go on sale for the first time.
-- 14-year-old Bobby Fischer wins the United States Chess Championship
-- The word Aerospace is coined, from the words Aircraft (aero) and Spacecraft (space) taking into consideration that the Earth's atmosphere and outerspace is to be one, or a single realm.
-- Ruth Carol Taylor is the first African American woman hired as a flight attendant.
-- Peace symbol designed and completed by Gerald Holtom, commissioned by Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, in protest against the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment.
-- The bodies of unidentified soldiers killed in action during World War II and the Korean War are buried at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
-- First International House of Pancakes (IHOP) opens in Toluca Lake, Calif.
-- First parking meters installed in Britain
-- The U.S. Congress formally creates the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
-- Jack St. Clair Kilby invents first integrated circuit.
-- The 3rd Soviet Antarctic Expedition becomes the first ever to reach the Southern Pole of Inaccessibility.
-- Rebel troops under Che Guevara begin to invade Santa Clara in Cuba.

Well, what a nice Birthday greeting! Thank you! First I had to find my reading glasses. Then, since I'm ancient, had to find my other reading glasses - the ones that are stronger, to actually focus. And voila, it was well worth all the efforts! Thanks Liz!
